Using Help Austin
Terms of Service.
Effective September 16, 2026.
These terms govern your use of Help Austin at helpaustintx.org. By using the site or submitting information, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the service.
1. An independent volunteer directory
Help Austin helps people discover volunteer programs in the Austin area. We are not the organizer, employer, agent, or insurer of the organizations or activities listed. A listing, source review, or approved organization claim is not an endorsement, background check, or guarantee of safety, suitability, eligibility, or available places.
2. Confirm before participating
Schedules, locations, requirements, accessibility, fees, and openings can change. Confirm current details directly with the organization before applying or attending. Applications, participation arrangements, waivers, and any payments are between you and the organization and are subject to its rules. Consider the risks of each activity and follow the organizer’s safety instructions. Minors should involve a parent or guardian and follow the organization’s age and supervision requirements.
3. Accounts and organization access
Keep your sign-in account secure and provide accurate information. Only claim or manage a listing if you are authorized to represent the organization. Signing in does not establish that authority: claims require independent review. We may request further evidence, correct information, remove content, or suspend or revoke access for misuse, inaccurate claims, security concerns, or loss of authority. Do not share access or impersonate another person or organization.
4. Submissions and image rights
You are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of information and media you submit. Only upload material you own or have permission to publish, including necessary photographer and participant permissions. Do not submit confidential client records, identity documents, or sensitive information about people receiving services.
You retain ownership of your submissions. You give Help Austin a nonexclusive, royalty-free permission to store, reproduce, format, crop images, and display submitted content as needed to operate and maintain the directory. Private claim evidence and contact details are handled according to our Privacy Policy, rather than published as listing content. We may review, decline, edit, or remove submissions. Submitting a listing does not guarantee publication.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use the site for fraud, harassment, spam, unlawful discrimination, rights infringement, malicious uploads, or unauthorized access. Do not bypass security or rate limits, collect private information about others, or interfere with the service. Respect the rights and licensing terms of photographs, logos, and other material credited on the site.
6. Other websites and services
Links lead to independent websites with their own terms and privacy practices. Help Austin does not control their content or services. Google sign-in is provided by Google; Help Austin does not receive your password.
7. Availability and limitations
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the directory is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, completeness, uninterrupted access, or fitness for a particular purpose. We may update, interrupt, or discontinue features.
To the extent permitted by law, Help Austin and its operators are not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses arising from use of the directory or dealings with listed organizations. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or limits rights you have under applicable law.
8. Privacy and requests
Our Privacy & accessibility page explains information handling, cookies, and correction or deletion requests. To report inaccurate content, a rights concern, an account problem, or a question about these terms, use our correction and contact form. Include the relevant page and enough information for us to review the issue.
9. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms as the service changes. The effective date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be noted on this page. Your continued use after updated terms take effect is subject to the updated terms.
