The November 24 event has two published volunteer shifts
United Way for Greater Austin lists H-E-B's 37th annual Feast of Sharing for Tuesday, November 24, 2026, at Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Road. The official signup page publishes a first shift from 3 to 6:30 p.m. and a second shift from 6 to 9 p.m.
United Way says more than 1,000 volunteers will help provide meals to more than 10,000 people in Central Texas. Those are the organizer's stated event goals, not Help Austin's independent attendance count. The public page does not report how many places remain in each role, so a visible signup route should not be treated as a guaranteed seat until registration is completed and confirmed.
The organization lists 14 volunteer opportunities, including serving meals, greeting and seating guests, and helping in the children's area. Role-level openings can change inside the signup system; choose from the current options rather than relying on this article as an inventory list.
- Choose one of the two published shifts.
- Select a current role in the official signup system.
- Complete an individual registration for every participant.
- Keep the organizer's confirmation and final arrival instructions.

Every volunteer must register individually
The event page says there are no team signups. Every volunteer, regardless of age, must have an individual registration. A company, school, family or friend group should therefore not submit one name and assume it covers everyone else.
United Way also publishes a specific rule for minors: an accompanying adult must complete a paper minor waiver onsite so that each minor is paired with that adult. The page says the form can be printed and completed in advance to speed check-in.
The page does not publish a minimum volunteer age, role-by-role age limits or a general statement that every role is suitable for every child. Register each person, review the chosen role and ask United Way at volunteer@uwatx.org if age, supervision or accessibility affects participation.

Fourteen role types span meal service and guest support
United Way's volunteer page says participants can choose among 14 opportunities, with examples that include serving meals, greeting and seating guests, and helping in the children's area. The event is therefore a coordinated hospitality and food-service project rather than a single undifferentiated shift.
A role name does not establish its physical demands, accessibility or training needs. The public overview does not describe lifting requirements, prolonged standing, language skills or accommodations for each assignment. Read the live role description before registering and contact the organizer when a requirement determines whether you can safely serve.
United Way's general volunteer page also lists recurring diaper-distribution and food-pantry opportunities. Those are separate programs. Registering for Feast of Sharing does not enroll someone in those monthly activities, and the monthly opportunities do not substitute for the November 24 event signup.

Use the free shuttle because Palmer has no event parking
The signup page says no parking is available at Palmer Events Center for volunteers. Instead, free parking and shuttle service are offered from the 2nd Street Austin Convention Center parking garage at 201 East 2nd Street, with shuttle pickup at Brazos and 2nd Street from 2:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Registered volunteers are told to expect an emailed QR code a few days before the event for free entry to the garage. The code may be printed or scanned from a phone. Do not assume ordinary garage entry will be free without the organizer-issued code.
The event page asks volunteers to arrive on time, wear comfortable clothes and shoes, and leave personal belongings at home because no storage is available onsite. It also says volunteer check-in closes at 7:15 p.m.; people arriving later may attend dinner as guests but will not check in as volunteers.

Registration is current, but capacity is not published
As reviewed October 10, United Way's official volunteer and upcoming-events pages both displayed the 2026 Feast of Sharing and linked to the event signup route. The portal presented the event details but did not expose a reliable remaining-capacity total in its public text.
Complete the live registration for the exact role and shift you want, agree to the required volunteer waiver and wait for confirmation. If the portal shows a role as filled, choose another current option or contact the volunteer team; do not arrive expecting an unconfirmed assignment.
Help Austin reviewed the official event, volunteer and upcoming-events pages on October 10, 2026. United Way's direct messages and live portal control any later change to capacity, role requirements, transportation or check-in.
