The City still links a volunteer form for the November 10 event

Austin Economic Development's official 2026 event page invites people to volunteer for Youth Career Fest and links directly to a City-managed Airtable form. Help Austin verified that both the event page and linked form resolved on October 22, 2026.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, November 10, from 9 a.m. to noon at Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Road. The official page labels the location as Palmer Events Center but also displays an inconsistent 'Virtual Event' label; volunteers should plan from their confirmation rather than infer a remote option.

A working signup link indicates that the City is accepting submissions, but it does not guarantee a placement. The public form does not expose a remaining-space count, role list, shift length or acceptance deadline outside its embedded interface. Submit the form and wait for the organizer's confirmation before treating the assignment as secured.

  • Open the volunteer form from the City's event page.
  • Keep a copy of the submission or confirmation you receive.
  • Do not assume the public event hours are the complete volunteer shift.
  • Ask the organizer to resolve the page's in-person/virtual inconsistency if it affects you.

Youth Career Fest connects high school students with education and career paths

The City describes Youth Career Fest as an annual career-exploration event for high school students from across the Austin area. It is organized by Youth Initiatives and facilitated by the Austin Youth Council, a group of high school students who engage with local government and policymakers.

The program page says students can explore career sectors, higher-education options, networking and keynote speakers. The event page separately provides registration routes for students and school groups, vendors and volunteers, so the volunteer form is not the correct path for registering a class or showcasing a business.

City materials say the event has attracted more than 200 vendors and over 3,000 attendees. Those are program-level historical figures, not a forecast or confirmed headcount for the 2026 event.

Volunteer duties and arrival times are not published on the public page

The City's public event description asks people to volunteer to support the event but does not name specific duties. Help Austin did not find an official public list of check-in, wayfinding, setup, student-support or breakdown assignments, so this guide does not assign those roles to the opportunity.

Likewise, the 9 a.m.–noon event window should not be treated as the volunteer shift. Event volunteers are often asked to arrive earlier or remain later, but the City page does not state that here. Only an organizer message or form confirmation can establish the actual commitment.

Prospective volunteers should also wait for the organizer to explain any screening, minimum-age, training, dress or parking requirements. None of those details appears on the public pages reviewed.

Use the correct route if you are a student, school or exhibitor

Students, teachers, school staff and student-based groups have a separate attendance-registration link on the official event page. Businesses, City departments and higher-education institutions have a separate vendor form, plus another route for donating attendee swag-bag items.

Those forms serve different participants and should not be substituted for the volunteer application. If you are attending with students and also want to volunteer, ask Youth Initiatives which registration or combination of forms applies before submitting duplicate entries.

The official page lists 512-974-9313 as an event contact number. Use the City's current page for any later replacement contact, schedule change or registration update.

Confirm access, parking and the final location before November 10

The event page identifies Palmer Events Center at 900 Barton Springs Road as the venue. It does not publish volunteer parking instructions, transit support, step-free route details, sensory conditions or an accommodations contact specific to volunteers.

Because the same page also shows a 'Virtual Event' label despite the physical venue, save the organizer's response and recheck the official page shortly before the event. Do not rely on the label alone when deciding where to report.

If mobility, communication access, sensory conditions, transportation or another accommodation determines whether you can serve, raise it through the signup or City contact before committing. Help Austin cannot infer an accessible role from the general event description.
