Three current shifts are listed for October 23 and 24
Austin Parks Foundation's current volunteer calendar lists a Restoration Reset shift at Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park on Friday, October 23, plus Saturday, October 24 shifts at Barton Creek Greenbelt and Kendra Page Neighborhood Park. The official registration pages were still accepting registrations when Help Austin reviewed them October 17.
Walnut Creek runs Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at 12138 North Lamar Boulevard. Its registration page showed 15 of 25 places filled at review time. Barton Creek runs Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon, meeting at the Violet Crown Trailhead in Zilker Park, and showed 19 of 40 registrations.
Kendra Page's registration page lists Saturday's event at 2203 Blue Meadow Drive and showed 30 positions remaining. Capacity is live, not guaranteed: choose a shift and complete its official registration instead of treating these review-time counts as a reservation.
- Open the live registration page before making plans.
- A place count shown here was a snapshot on October 17, not a hold.
- Use the meeting point printed on the selected shift.
- Do not arrive without a confirmed registration.

Each site pairs practical work with restoration skills
At Walnut Creek, Austin Parks Foundation and Siglo Group describe work that can include invasive-species removal, tree care, native seeding, seed collection and trail maintenance. The organizer frames the four-week course as an opportunity to support native plants and wildlife while learning skills volunteers can continue using with APF.
The Barton Creek skill-building session focuses on invasive-species management, trail construction, erosion concerns and native seed collection or planting. APF says the series is intended to improve habitat and trail conditions while helping participants learn Central Texas ecology and skills for future volunteer events.
The Kendra Page event focuses on invasive-plant management, brush and trail maintenance, trash removal, seed collection and seed dispersal. Its official registration page calls this Part 3 of a seven-part fall series; volunteers do not need Help Austin to infer a role beyond the tasks the organizer actually lists.

Prepare for uneven terrain, weather and outdoor work
The organizer tells Walnut Creek and Barton Creek volunteers to bring plenty of water and wear sturdy closed-toe shoes plus weather-appropriate clothing for wooded natural areas. It recommends long clothing, ankle coverage, sun protection and bug protection. Both pages warn that the work may involve uneven, sloped, wet or muddy ground.
Kendra Page's signup page similarly calls for closed-toe shoes, a full water bottle, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray and comfortable outdoor clothing, preferably long pants and sleeves. It says tools and gloves will be provided, though volunteers may bring their own work or gardening gloves.
APF says staff will direct volunteers to leave the site during dangerous conditions such as lightning, hail or strong wind or rain. Check the organizer's current event page and messages before traveling if weather is unsettled.
- Bring a full water bottle and consider snacks or electrolytes.
- Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and protective outdoor clothing.
- Expect uneven terrain and possible mud.
- Watch organizer messages for weather changes.

Parents and guardians should check the exact shift before registering
The Walnut Creek registration page says volunteers under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or supervising guardian. The Kendra Page page repeats that condition and labels the opportunity family friendly. The Barton Creek registration page also says children under 17 must be accompanied.
There is one important timing conflict on the Kendra Page pages. APF's event page and the top of GivePulse show 9 a.m. to noon, while the detailed instructions inside the live registration page say 9–11 a.m. Help Austin is not choosing between those official times. Registered volunteers should follow the organizer's confirmation or ask APF which end time applies before making transportation or caregiving plans.
The Barton Creek description also calls the accelerator both an eight-week and a five-week course. That inconsistency does not change the October 24 shift time, but it is a reason to rely on the selected registration confirmation rather than assume a fixed remaining series length.
